Project House «Eber»

After 120 years – construction is finally continuing

The foundation Jugendwohnnetz JUWO is building an apartment complex with 95 rooms for young adults in education at Herdernstrasse 56. Housing for students and apprentices with limited financial resources is being created on the property received from the «City of Zurich“ under building rights.

The existing “Haus Eber” will be renovated, partially rebuilt and supplemented on both sides with new buildings. The project is being implemented by Wild Architekten in Zurich, who won a competition held by the Office for Buildings. The project costs around 17 million Swiss francs.

The apartments will be built on a split level with open-plan kitchens and balcony terraces in front. The new building will comply with the requirements of the 2000-watt society and the energy parameters according to Minergie-P-ECO. An arbor corridor connects the buildings with the inner courtyard.
